A Índia é um destino turístico muito desejado por seus belos palácios, fortes e templos. Mas outros motivos atraem pessoas ao país: o estudo de meditação, terapias, ayurveda e ioga.
E para isso, um dos lugares mais buscados é Rishikesh. No norte de Nova Deli , em meio à cordilheira dos Himalaias, a cidade é conhecida por ser a capital mundial da ioga. Aqui os turistas se reúnem principalmente em duas vilas: Laxman Jhula e Ram Jhula.

Rishkesh tem uma temporada turística bem marcada, vai de fevereiro a maio, quando o clima é mais ameno e os Mestres e Babas atraem pessoas do mundo todo para seus satsangs (palestras).
A cidade, que é considerada sagrada pelos hindus, mantém viva a tradição milenar da ioga, na beira do limpo Rio Ganges, dezenas de escolas oferecem cursos de aperfeiçoamento, formação de professores e aulas para iniciantes. Os ashram de ioga se tornaram, também, uma opção de hospedagem, com aulas, acomodação e refeições de acordo com o pacote. Um dos ashram mais famosos é o que hospedou, no passado, o grupo de rock Beatles.

Em março, o Festival Internacional de Ioga, com conferencistas e professores do mundo todo, atrai estudantes dos mais diversos estilos e níveis. Neste ano, o festival começou no dia 1º e encerra-se no dia 7. Pessoas de mais de 93 países estão presentes, reunindo mais de um mil inscritos e a mesma quantidade de visitantes.
Mas Rishikesh não se resume a práticas espirituais, é possível tomar banho no Ganges, fazer passeios de barco, incluindo rafting, visitar templos e também é um portão de entrada para algumas trilhas nas montanhas do Himalaia.

Para quem passa pelas grandes cidades da Índia, Rishikesh é um lugar para relaxar, longe do barulho e dos lugares lotados que caracterizam o país.
E ao contrário do que se pode pensar, a Índia é segura, em especial Rishikesh. No país assaltos não são frequentes, sou mulher, estou viajando a Índia sozinha por mais de seis meses sem nenhum contratempo.
