Nos meses de janeiro, a cidade –que fica na região da Sibéria– tem temperatura média em torno dos -50ºC. Em 1924, os termômetros registraram -71,2°C.

Uma das maiores dificuldades, conta Amos, foi operar a câmera, já que o zoom óptico das lentes congelou algumas vezes.
O frio é tão extremo que os banheiros são construídos fora das casas, já que não há como colocar água encanada.
